I went to the 'finale' of the Essex Fair last weekend, not only did summer return for the day but it was very much the calm before the storm quite literally, as I type this the weather channels have us on a severe weather warning code.
Anyway, it stayed dry and muggy as the fireworks and light show did its thing.
This now marks the beginning of the six weeks firework display along the seafront which Southend hosts each year. (weather permitting, lol)
I suppose my passion for music really hasn’t subsided over the years, matured perhaps but never really ceded.
I was listening to Saturday Night at the Proms and marvelling at The National Youth Orchestra at The Royal Albert Hall, we really do have the best in the world. Thoroughly enjoyable even if you’re not a lover of classical music.
Then in the same breath I was invited to The ‘V’ Festival to listen to groups and singers both old and new. When I heard Kasabian were on stage that evening I didn’t hesitate and as this rock/pop/rap and crap Festival is now held in Chelmsford (just up the road from me), I went along. I couldn’t believe my luck as that evening Madness put in an appearance and thrilled the audience with some great classics. The air was electrifying. Another great evening.
I watched ‘The Patriot’, this week, omg, talk about inaccurate, it was just so historically wrong. I guess that’s what is meant by Hollywood putting a poetic script to us Brits getting our asses kicked. Singers do this when they rhyme words that just don’t rhyme! They have a poetic license.
That said, I just finished ‘Good Will Hunting’ which has restored my faith in Hollywood, they just need to stay clear of history.
Back to The Patriot and I must admit I was a little tearful when his baby daughter spoke to her father for the first time!
The irony being that it took an Aussie to fill this part!

I don't like the film for the above reasons lol
Shoosh. It was perfect...just how it happened! Instead of text books, history teachers in the U.S. just show this film! ;P
Of course that is how it happened! Hollywood doen't make it up....lol :P
Just watched ‘My Best Friends Wedding’. Not one on my list but very enjoyable, some of the one liners really ticked me and ‘omg’ at the ice statue scene.
Many great songs were carried through the film and one happened to be a firm standard and favourite of mine. The lyrics say it all.
Some day, when I'm awfully low,
When the world is cold,
I will feel a glow just thinking of you...
And the way you look tonight.
Yes you're lovely, with your smile so warm
And your cheeks so soft,
There is nothing for me but to love you,
And the way you look tonight.
With each word your tenderness grows,
Tearing my fear apart...
And that laugh that wrinkles your nose,
It touches my foolish heart.
Lovely ... Never, ever change.
Keep that breathless charm.
Won't you please arrange it ?
'Cause I love you ... Just the way you look tonight.
Mm, Mm, Mm, Mm,
Just the way you look to-night.
